A comprehensive drain survey undertaken for rat ingress points in Stroud, today identified not one, but two, redundant and uncapped lines on the sewer system.
Redundant lines below ground are often left uncapped and allow rats out of the sewer system, where they will tunnel below ground to then enter properties via floor voids and cavity walls.
In many cases these old and inactive lines are deemed to be ‘out of sight – out of mind’ and therefore very little thought is given to the risk of rat infestations if they are left open.
We have lost count of the number of times an uncapped line has been the reason for recurrent rat infestations in properties, a defect that would never have been found without a drain survey being undertaken.
Luckily for this homeowner the uncapped lines are located on the shared part of the sewer system, so the remedial works will be undertaken by the water board, at no extra cost to our Client.
If rats have taken up residence in your home or business please contact us for an initial site survey.
We also offer standalone drain surveys if a fellow pest control provider recommends a drain survey and they do not have the equipment to undertake this themselves.
